Adult Education
     The Adult Education Center serves Butler County, Missouri and the surrounding areas.
     Our goal is to build a community where people are empowered to improve their life and family through the achievement of academic and career goals. 
     The first step in seeking adult education is to request an appointment to set goals. That can be done by phone (573) 300-7862 or email "[email protected]".
     At their first meeting, adults will get help setting goals for their education and be given four options:
1. Receive basic math and language training to attain an 8th grade education level.
2. Either prepare to take the high school equivalency test (HISET) or complete the necessary course work to receive their high school diploma which will be conferred by Westwood Baptist Academy.
3.  Seek Post-secondary education to improve job skills and/or certifications that will make them more employable.
4.  Enrollment in workshops to improve the life skills necessary for everyday living such as personal finance basics, proactive parenting, workplace readiness, basic health & hygiene, and household management.
     The Adult Education Center will help facilitate the educational process from initial evaluation through completion of the student's educational goals by providing direct instruction, tutoring, resource access, and/or coordination of services.
     We know that each person has a unique path in life and everyone has a different level of ability. The education and resources provided by the Adult Education Center will be tailored to fit the individual student's needs and learning abilities.

​Josh Hawley is the Principal of Westwood Baptist Academy and Children’s Director of Westwood Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff, MO, where he has served the Lord for the past sixteen years. He holds degrees from Pensacola Christian College and Arkansas State University. He and his wife, Ryan, have been married for eighteen years and have three children: James, Sydney, and Isabella.
